Al-
The bathroom is coming along- slower than desired, but
you're right- good work takes time. The hard part is now I'm back at my
OTHER job (Portal), and I have less time to devote to it. Here's the
status report I sent to Nana yesterday.
The bathroom is
coming along well:
- Demolition
completed
- Walls reframed to
repair stud damage
- 5 new lights
installed
- electrical outlets
installed
- new fan installed
(relocated)
- insulation
installed
- greenboard &
felt/wonderboard installed, incl. 3 shampoo alcoves
- initial plaster
work done (not all completed)
- floor tile
installed & grouted
- Wall tile 50%
complete- waiting on some trim pieces I forgot to order.
- Toilet installed
(YEAHHH!!!!)
Everything up to
insulation was done while Ed was here. The wallboard and tile is a major
effort, so it just sucks up the hours.
To be
completed:
- remaining tile work
(should be done this weekend if the pieces arrive)
- grout the wall tile
(Monday night?)
- install tub faucet
and showerhead
- install cabinets
(end next week, in the evenings)
- finish plaster
(calling a pro to make it perfect)
- order the corian
counter (1 week to get a template done, then 2 weeks to fabricate
it)
- install shower
track
- sew shower curtain
(KEK)
- hang a new door
(just the slab, not the frame)
- install towel bars,
glass shelf, TP holder, etc.
- trim for the door,
window, and baseboard (custom made in my workshop)
- paint
Realistically, it
will be mid-September before it's 100% perfect and done, but with the toilet
installed, life is much better.
The shampoo alcoves were a mistake- they're worth at least 8 hours of work each. Next time, we'll buy those Stainless Steel wire baskets that attach to the wall. :-)
Hope you're doing well. When do we see you
next?
All the best

Doug
I
received your e-mail, but i can't download the picture. Help an old man
thru this.
I understand that the bathroom is going along slowly. I
just talked to Ed and he said
the you will be getting the toilet in shortly.
All good jobs take a long time.
Hope to hear for you soon.
Al.
