Christmas 2002
Christmas Day...

25 Dec 2002

Christmas Day is always a wonderful time.  If you’re a kid, you get to tear into dozens of presents left especially for you.  If you’re a parent, you get to watch your kids tear into dozens of presents, which is actually even more fun than being a kid.

Christmas morning started not too early at Nana and Papa’s house.  We crawled out of bed to see a bit of snow from the night before.  (It was about 4 inches of the heavy wet stuff, so you can’t really call it a ‘dusting’).  We opened stockings first and then actually had breakfast before moving on to the big pile in the living room.  I must admit I didn’t take as many pictures this year as I usually do, but we did have a good time.

Looks like Nana got what she wanted, and so did Papa.  Always a good thing.

The girls, of course, had a fantastic time.  They had more presents than they could imagine (and more than we could carry home!)  It was very exciting.  Zoe got the waffle iron she asked Santa for, and Santa seemed to know that McKenna is really fond of ball toys, because she got a new ball maze.  Of course at Mac's age, the box is just as good as the gift.

Even Uncle Bob got into the act.  Seems like there was a little something in a blue box for Aunt Kathy.

We were also really lucky to have Uncle Al with us and Kathy's Mom, Aunt Janet.  Unfortunately, Dad didn't get any pictures of them.
Christmas Day was a perfect event.  The snow meant we could go out and build Zoe's first snowman.  I don't think many kids get to build their very first snowman on Christmas Day.  Daddy and Uncle Bob took Zoe out for the big event.  She wanted to make snow angels too, but it was just too crunchy.

Not shown here was the fantastic "UPS" exchange, wherein... Al improved his putting game, Nana acquired a nice candle holder, and Silka managed to go home with the same pepper grinder she tried to give away...

On Christmas evening, it started to snow again.  This time, it was the real deal.  We got about another 8" of the white, fluffy stuff- the kind that is perfect for sled riding, snowballs, and all sorts of other good things.  Check out the peripheral activities on the next Christmas Page

Of course, with such a long way to go, we couldn't open all the gifts in New Jersey.  There were some gifts from Mom, Dad, Aunt Heather, Aunt Tracy, Uncle Arnold, Alex, and Grammy waiting at home.

The girls got some great gifts, including more Fisher-Price people (always a huge hit), a toy kitchen, and plastic food of all descriptions.

This picture was actually taken on January 1, 2003, but it seems to sum up Zoe's opinion of Christmas.  :-)
