Unless you either don't know us and just stumbled across this page by accident, or you've been living under a rock, you know that we're expecting again. The biggest chellenge we've found to a second pregnancy is that you're still busy with the results of the first pregnancy. Hence, there haven't been many "New Baby Network" updates or other tracking information. I can't make all of that up in one shot, but I'll at least try to bring you current. We've only just started thinking about names, so more will come on that topic.

Sonogram results...
| I'm not a qualified MD, so I can't really "read" this, but you can probably make this out OK. This is a close up of the baby's head. It's a profile view, and the nose is at the top. | |
| This is the whole baby, from the side. You can see the head (far left), the spine (all in good shape), arms, etc. The scanned picture isn't that great, but trust me- all the parts are there. (Thanks, God.) |

The first update to the NBN...

I'm about 18 weeks along now (the baby is due December 2 or so) and everything is pretty much normal. All the blood work is fine and the baby's heartbeat is normal. I haven't gained ANY weight (I'm actually a bit lighter than when I started this nonsense). Yes, I received a bit of an admonishing from the doc, but she's not really that worried. I think it's just muscle weight since I had to stop playing hockey. Next up is the dreaded amniocentisis test. Basically, a very long needle gets shoved into my belly to draw fluid from the amnioc sac - yes, - very painful, not pleasant and has the potential to hurt the baby. Welcome to the world of the over-35! I don't *have* to have this test done and could very well just do the blood/ultra sound tests that we did the last time. I still have time to chicken-out :=) Zoe is doing great with all this and so far is very excited about having a baby in the family. She knows she'll have to share her room and doesn't seem to mind (until we move in the crib, of course!). Much love to all and sorry to take so long to send out *something*. Kath
