Baby Yertle's...Frequently Asked Questions
Things people always seem to ask (or we bore them with anyway!)
Boy or Girl?
So far they think Yertle is going to be a girl. Of course untrasounds are not 100%, so we won't know for sure until November.
"Yertle" has to be the dumbest name I've ever heard. You're not really going to name her THAT, are you?
It was better than Shaniqua, wasn't it? Seriously, Yertle is a gender-neutral name we came up with to name the child until we knew gender. Given that it's a girl, we're planning to name her Zoe Michelle. If it's a boy, we'll name him Dominic Michael.
Are you getting married now?
Someone, please, anyone! Please tell me what getting married and having a baby have to do with one another? You need a license to get married. You DON'T need a license to have a child (although there is a strong case that you should!)
Are you going to buy a house?
We didn't plan to buy a house a s a specific result of starting a family. For one thing, the temporary drop in income makes mortgage payments even more daunting. However, it looks like we've managed to pull it off. See the House Hunt Update.
What can we get you?
Finally! A useful question... Seriously, watch this space for some sort of interactive baby registry. We are thrilled that people want to participate in so many ways. Thanks for all the support.
Are your parents happy?
Aside from continual references to question #3, they all seem pleased. I think a lot is forgiven when it's the first grandchild.
So, are you ready to be done with the pregnancy, yet?
I don't sleep well at night, I can't tie my own shoes, my back aches and my belly is so big that it constantly gets in the way. What do YOU think?
Do you think the baby will be born eary or late?
Accordning to my mother, I and my brother were born either on or within 3 days of our due dates. That's the best indicator I can think of as to my own birth experience. I'm already showing lots of signs that I'm "getting ready" to go into labor, which is good news. It takes several weeks for the body to prepare itself, so these early signs bode well for an ontime delivery.
